Culture

How did you prepare for the country’s culture?
I didn’t really prepare. I have been in Italy many times so I knew the culture and it is not so different from the Dutch culture. The only thing that annoyed me in the beginning was the fact that no one cares about time. Buses are driving whenever they want, Italian friends are always late etc. But you will get used to that really fast!
All the other things where amazing: the weather, the food, the beautiful city, the nice people. You feel home within a second.
Did the culture of the country influence your performance during the placement in any way? No, I just became more relaxed about time!

Other information

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: – Just know that you are an intern. The tasks can be really stressfull, tell your colleagues if it is too much
– Begin on time with your assignment. Make in your first week a deal with your coach about the time you will spend on your assignment, otherwise you will be working from 9-18 for the company and work on your assignment in your free time.
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: – Enjoy as many aperitivo’s as possible (10€ for a drink and unlimited food)
– Become friends with Italian people. This is the best way to learn about the lifestyle of the Italian people and to get to know the best places/restaurants/partys in Rome.
