Organization’s activities: Knowingo is helping large organizations deal with learning in a whole new way. Knowingo makes knowledge learning effective, measurable and even fun, all while realizing massive efficiency gains that let your employees spend their time doing what they do best, instead of sitting in a classroom. It is a mobile learning platform for employees that enables measurable return on knowledge through gamification powered by AI. It allows employees to become more knowledgeable about their profession in a fun and effective way. Gamification powered by AI ensures a personalized learning experience for all your employees. Organizations can measure their employees’ learning progress.

Knowingo is part of the industry of eLearning or digital learning. Instead of BTC the company deals with B2B commerce, meaning the target audience consists of businesses and companies, rather than individual consumers. The main customer verticals Knowingo is focusing on at the moment are banking & finance, hospitality, oil & gas, aviation, and consulting. The first three are currently prioritized.
Target group of the organization: Organisations in need of efficient employee training
Company culture: The hierarchy is fairly horizontal with short communication lines and an ‘’open door policy’’ meaning employees should feel free to talk to anyone in the organization regardless of their position. The work culture is informal and we work remotely, but we can visit the office when we want to have a change of environment or to socialize. We have physical meetups (usually over a company dinner) every once in a while.

Since the majority of the employees at Knowingo are non-Dutch, our main language of communication in English.

Information about your placement

In which department(s) are you working?

Marketing department

Brief description of your daily activities: My daily activities vary each week but I mainly focus on the creation of content for the website. Examples of such content include, but are not limited to, blog writing, (other) content writing, such as why the Knowingo team are experts in the field, important updates regarding the organization and the product, and on-brand marketing collateral.

The team also has weekly meetings to brainstorm, create and review content made for Marketing and growth strategies. I also help making branded Marketing & Sales corporate presentations that will be used in pitches and meetings. Furthermore I assist in updating the website, creating content for the resources library in order to generate more prospective leads and I help with campaign and performance marketing, lead management and release & partner marketing.

Lastly, I have been doing a lot of graphic design. This is mostly related to the rebrand that has been rolled out, all marketing and sales documents need to be edited or remade according to the new branding.
Brief description of your company assignment: The main focus of my company/placement assignment is content creation and research. I will be creating content for the on-brand marketing hub and collateral, which is a research assignment related to customer personas of relevant customer verticals. I will be researching and making a content creation plan in which Knowingo can curate content on a regular basis that is targeted to specific customer verticals that include: banking & finance, consulting, hospitality, oil & gas and aviation. Content that will need to be created in order to target customer industries correctly includes but is not limited to: blog writing, marketing campaigns, customer branded collateral to increase adoption rates, customer use cases, white papers and sales pitches on how Knowingo can help companies/organizations.
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: Together with three other interns I report to- and work under Tracey Trinh. I am usually in contact with her multiple times a day to discuss my work, give and receive feedback, and to ask questions. She is always available when I need something and gives me very useful feedback, it’s a pleasure working with her!

How did you prepare for the country’s culture?
I didn’t, I’m Dutch. However, it is important to be aware that the team of Knowingo is very diverse! Not everyone has the same communication style, so you need to be understanding of that.

Other information

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: if you think you’d enjoy putting in the work at an international tech scale-up, Knowingo might be the place for you!
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: not very relevant as it’s mostly remote but if you do visit the office and you’d like to see more of the city, I recommend visiting park Valkenberg in Breda or taking a canal cruise through Amsterdam.
