Information about placement organization
Type of organization: Representation company
Organization’s activities: AVIAREPS Tourism represents several destinations in Munich. For example, Mauritius, Las Vegas, South Australia and many more. The company does marketing and PR activities for these destinations.
Target group of the organization: Actually every target group
Company culture: There is no real hierarchy in the office. Everyone is treated equally but you only call your colleagues with their front name and not the CEO. The company itself is very formal but the hierarchy and atmosphere is informal. Interns do get lots of responsibility and are treated like one of the employees.
Number of employees: 25-30
Dress code: formal
Did the organization meet the agreements you made beforehand? Yes
Information about your placement
In which department(s) are you working? Marketing and PR department
Brief description of your daily activities: The daily activities can vary day to day. One time you do not have lots of work and on other days you get piles of work. My main task was to do the clipping reports. You receive media articles and you need to calculate the values of the articles. Eventually you make a report out of it. Other activities are ordering office material, taking phone calls, translations, sending out brochures, putting press releases online and provide support to other colleagues and their destinations. A special assignment is to contribute at the ITB in Berlin. I was assigned to support the New York stand.
Brief description of your company assignment: I worked together with an ITMC student. We were allowed to do the company assignment together. We choose the Bronx in New York as our topic. The assignment consists of an analysis of the Bronx and potential target group, and a marketing campaign on how to promote the Bronx as a future tourist destination.
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: I kind of had two supervisors who are both really nice to me. Even though you do not get in contact much with them and they often are very busy, they always answer your questions.

Other information
Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: Show initiative during your placement, otherwise you get the stupid assignments. Do not be afraid to ask questions to your colleagues as they are very glad to help you.
The internship itself is a very stressful position due to many deadlines, assignments in between and other tasks, do not let it affect your performance.
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: Munich is a very beautiful city with many leisure possibilities. Besides the usual sights within the city such as the Allianz Arena, the BMW museum and the city center, I could also recommend you to do trips outside of Munich. Salzburg, Augsburg and Nürnberg are for example very close by.
But the city itself already has many recreational options. Make use of the time that you are in Munich, I still get the feeling that I did not see everything yet.
