Bedrijfsbeschrijving: The Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam is a 5-star luxury hotel located next to the famous Museumplein. It has 129 rooms and suites, 2 restaurants, a big lounge, a gogreous atrium and meeting and event spaces. The Conservatorium Hotel is part of the SET hotel (Hotel Cafe Royal in London and Lutetia in Paris).

Welke afdeling loop je stage: Sales Department
Korte omschrijving van je dagelijkse werkzaamheden: I was basically assisting with different tasks for the Sales Team / Sales Managers. I prepared a lot of documents (administrative work) and made sure the right people sign it. I also checked if invoices were paid and worked together with the accounting department. Sometimes I brought guests to hteir rooms and explained them a few things about the rooms and the hotel. I did “hotel tours” for students and other guests or clients who were interested in visiting the hotel. Futhermore, I arranged appointments for the Sales Managers and made sure everything was scheduled in their agenda. I also worked together with the marketing team and helped their intern with a few tasks when I had some spare time. I prepared Sales Trips, booked flights, created hotel presentations, ordered gifts for clients etc.
Korte omschrijving van je bedrijfsopdracht:

My company assignment was to analyze the Chinese market and present recommendations for the Hotel to target this market and attract more Chinese guests. This included doing research about their needs and interests when visting Amsterdam and staying in a luxury hotel.

Begeleiding vanuit het bedrijf: My supervisor always supported me and helped me if I had any questions. I had an amazing team there and everyone was super welcoming. I was one of the only non-Dutch persons but had no problems intergrating (also depends on how open you are of course). Even though it is a fancy luxury hotel, the team atmosphere was not as strict or formal as you might expect. All in all I can only say positive things about this internship.

Gewenste vaardigheden voor deze stage

Welke persoonlijke kwaliteiten zijn van belang: Be flexible, able to work independently, ask for more tasks if you can do more, be responsible and take the initiative, be stress resistent (but dont worry, you wont be completely swamped with work)
Aanvullende eisen van het bedrijf: If you’re a foreigner it would be useful to learn some basic Dutch. Word and Excel knowledge is important but that is quite basic.

Tips met betrekking tot deze stage: I had a wonderful internship, mainly thanks to my colleagues and if you would like to work in the hotel industry, this is a great opportunity! Amsterdam is a gorgeous city to live in (even though its quite expensive). Enjoy!
