Organization’s activities: We had a few hotel visits. One time we went to Stellenbosch to the Lanzerac hotel, this is a 5 star hotel. We had dinner, a wine tasting and spend the night here. This was very fun and nice to experience.
Target group of the organization: French people
Company culture: The culture is not South-African, it is more a French work culture. You have to work 9 hours a day from 09:00-18:00 but have 1 hour lunch break. I only got 3 days off in 5 months. I tried to arrange something because both my parents were going to visit me, but they are very strict with this. I didn’t like the company’s culture, they didn’t really talk to me, only when they needed you for work. Also they would talk in French a lot. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Information about your placement

In which department(s) are you working?

I worked at the FIT (Free Independent Traveller) department

Brief description of your daily activities: I created itineraries within Southern African countries and build the corresponding quotations and programs. I negotiated with suppliers, followed up on suppliers and clients conformations. I made travel documents, quotes, itineraries and directions.
Brief description of your company assignment: I had to increase people to travel to a certain area in South-Africa and I had to create an itinerary that 7th Sense could use to sell to their clients or can add to their trips.

Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: They didn’t really support me during my internship. My internship supervisor didn’t have time for me and I didn’t have a lot to do during the day. For the first 2 months I didn’t have anything to do for 3/4 hours everyday. After 2 months I had a few more things to do but still had a lot of times where I couldn’t do anything.

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: Don’t do your internship at 7th Sense. If you also want to enjoy the area and travel a bit I wouldn’t recommend this company.
