Brief description of your daily activities: Daily Responsibilities
The daily activities are really broad and consist of several tasks of the department of Quality Management. The main activity is to assist in the tasks of the Head of Quality Management by getting an insight in all their tasks. Assisting the head of Quality Management during external audits of third parties is an example for assisting him. One of my tasks is also to perform internal audits as assigned, including the collaboration in those performed by personnel outside the hotel. Furthermore I have to transcribe the results of audits and filing and order the evidence collected. In addition to that I will assist in the preparation of reports and action plans that follow from them. Another important part of my activities in the department of quality management is the participation in the development of quality system documentation by assisting in the documentation of standards and requirements as well. Besides of all these activities mentioned above it is my duty to chart the scores of the questionnaires received and to enter comments in the same significant databases. To issue the reports that the head of quality management agreed with the management based on questionnaires sent out to the rest of the organization is also a fundamental task of the department I am working for to make sure the quality of the hotel will hold the good standards in all departments and areas of the organization. To have all these activities kept secure it is also an important aspect of maintaining stock of material file and the department itself.
Brief description of your company assignment: Competition analysis
The assignment consists of a competition analysis including a quality survey among the customers. The main duty is to analyze other five star hotels in the Canary Islands (especially in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura). The reason for that is the similarity of the target groups on these two islands, whereas Gran Canaria and Tenerife (the other major islands of the Canary Islands) are much bigger and attract also partly other target groups. By doing this analysis among the neighbor islands it is the aim to find out about strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the Hotel Yaiza. Another important aspect is the development of other hotels which are heading to become a five star hotel and could eventually be a threat for the Hotel Yaiza. Since the daily activities are mainly in the department of Quality Management it is also interesting to do a quality survey among the customers and finally compare the quality with other hotels. The survey will head to the aim to observe the competition and in which points and aspects the hotel could improve to be the leading hotel of the Canary Islands. Therefore it is interesting to catch on aspects which customers liked in other hotels in the region of the Canaries and what could possibly be introduced in the Hotel to make it unique.

Did the culture of the country influence your performance during the placement in any way? Not really, however I am adopting a little bit the Spanish culture in general, which does not influence my placement in a negative way at all
