In which department(s) are you working? Gemini MICE, Gemini Travel. I worked in MICE
Brief description of your daily activities: – Preparation of files and PowerPoints for arriving groups
– Preparation of hotel and program costing sheets
– Promotional activities (e.g. design of newsletter, brochures and city guides)
– Presence and support at organized events/ inspections
Brief description of your company assignment: I worked on a promotion plan for a couple of new products.
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: Great! Nese, my supervisor, is very helpful although she is always very busy.

Do you need a work permit? No, but a residence permit
How did you arrange the necessary documents: The visa process, from application to pick up, took one week. I applied at the Turkish embassy in Frankfurt, Germany. There is no scheduled appointment necessary, one can go there Tuesday and Thursday mornings in order to apply. TheTurkish residence permit cannot be applied for when living in any other country but Turkey. The process is complicated and one has to consider several things. I’m happy to help the person that is going to do an internship in Istanbul with the application.

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: Just be yourself, be honest and humorous. Certainly never walk into the bosses’ office when chewing a gum…
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: A lot! I suggest to bring a good travel guide! 😉
