Organization’s activities: Excursions, all kind of facilities like swimming pools/laundry services/spa/restaurant etc. and ofcourse providing good and clean rooms.
Target group of the organization: the main target group are the surfers from Australia.
Company culture: There is the owner: Ms. Debbie Yatno and there is a general manager; Ms. Phoenix, they work a lot together to make important decisions. Besides them there are a few departments, like Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Sales & Marketing, Human Resource, they all have 1 manager who makes decisions for his/her department, he or she also makes the working schedules etc.
The communication in general is very informal and loosely. But when Ms. Debbie Yatno or Ms. Phoenix walks by the employees will be more formal to them.

Information about your placement

In which department(s) are you working? Front office and Sales & Marketing
Brief description of your daily activities: At the Front Office I was helping all the guests with questions, complains or anything they need. I also did the check-outs and check-ins, also answering the phone was one of my jobs.
At the Sales & Marketing department I was maintaining the Social Media-channels, checking the website, answering mails from guests and also answering the phone.
Brief description of your company assignment:
I. Marketing and sales:
I will map out the existing promotion, sales and marketing strategy at the company.
II. Customer satisfaction
I will analyze the customer satisfaction by conducting interviews with guests, online reviews etc. based on that I will create an advise for the management on how to improve the current leisure package.
III. Communication lines
I will map out each existing departments and their current communication lines. There will be created an overview/an organization chart which easily shows how the communication between the departments is.

Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: My supervision was the owner of the resort: Ms. Debbie Yatno. She told me what to do, but in the departments everyone was helping me with my dialy activities and tasks.

Other information

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: If you are able to go abroad for an internship do it,
first I was doubting about it, but it’s really an experience that changes you in a positve way.
An experience that nobody can take from you and an experience where you can learn a lot about yourself but also about another culture.
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: A lot!
In Kuta you can go to the beach (also good for surfing), go shopping, go eat at one of the many restaurants and the nightlife in Kuta is also very nice.
Besides that, the days that you are off you can discover Bali, which is awesome. You can go to Ahmed (snorkeling and diving), the Sekumpul waterfalls, Lovina (see Dolphins), go to the Gili Islands for 2 or 3 days, to Nusa Lembongan (also snorkeling and diving) and all the temples are also beautiful to see (Pura Besakih, Uluwatu, Tanah Lot etc.)
