Company culture: The atmosphere between colleagues is quite informal. Everyone is kind and helping you out where they can. They will include you in the 'Corinthia group' and some colleagues became a kind of friends as well. Besides that, the atmosphere can be very formal when it comes to the contact with the guests. Everything has to be perfect and the result of that is a high stress level. That doesn't count for the interns. As an intern, you don't have to do a lot of tasks. In the start you get your own tasks and you get the responsibility about them. But it's not that intensive.

Brief description of your company assignment: Investigating the the motives of the current business guests regarding the stay at Corinthia Hotel St. George's Bay, in order to develop a new strategy, with the ultimate aim of a higher occupancy rate
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: Everyone, including you supervisor, is willing to help you where they can. You work in the same office as you supervisor is, so she is always nearby. When you have a question, they will help you out and explain everything you want to know. Besides that, the guidance (especially in the beginning) is not much. You colleagues tell you what you can do and the most of the time you have to figure it out by yourself.

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: Show your willing to learn during your internship. Your colleagues will teach you everything you want to know, but it has to come from your end mostly.

When you are travelling by bus, calculate some extra time. The public transport is (almost) never on time.
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: Corinthia Hotel is located in St. Julian's. This is the town of restaurants, bar and some clubs. So it is perfect for the Friday- and Saturday nights. Besides that, Malta is a beautiful island, so make sure you go visit the hot spots and travel around the island. Great places to visit are:
– The Blue Lagoon
– Gozo
– Different city's like: Valletta, Marsaxlokk, Mdina and Sliema
– Other places like: Blue Grotto, Dingly Cliffs, St. Peterspool, the Three City's, Golden Bay and many more
