Culture

I didn’t really prepare for the country’s culture. Yes, some things are different than in The Netherlands; for example the way people act; everything is very relaxed and they are never in a hurry except when they are in the car then they suddenly are in a hurry. Furthermore, not many Italians speak English; this is actually the only problem that I have come across.
Did the culture of the country influence your performance during the placement in any way? no

Other information

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: – Do explore the city in your free time; Rome is a beautiful city and there is so much to do and see.
– Make day trips to other cities; by train you can easily go to cities in Tuscany or you can go to Naples.
– If there are no other students in Rome, please make sure you find other people to hang out with, these people will make your time even better!

– don’t trust the public transportation too much. Train and metro are ok. The tram is also fine but the busses can be a disaster.
– don’t go out for dinner near the touristic spots in the city. These restaurants are very expensive and often the food is not that good. Try to find a cosy restaurant in the Streets around the tourisitc places, these restaurants are often better!
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: – The touristic sights
– go out for dinner in Trastevere
– when you want to go out; you should definitely go to Ex Dogana, Shari Vari or Circolo Degli Illuminati
