Company culture: Italian companies are usually very hierarchic. J&TI has a lot of Dutch influences which gives it a nice balance between formal – informal.
Normal workdays in the office are pretty informal.

In which department(s) are you working?

Operations & event assistant

Brief description of your daily activities: Since this company only exists of 6 employees, you will be very up-to-date with all the programs.
I’m basically working on almost every project that is going on within the company.
Being so involved in the company makes it really enjoyable for me and gives a great sense of responsibility.
Brief description of your company assignment: Make detailed flowchart of every process that is going on from recieving request untill signing contract.
This file will give new interns a good overview of what to expect when arriving on their first day here.
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: I’m Dutch myself. Francesco is my, and will also be your, supervisor. Francesco is a very relaxed half Dutch half Italian in his twenties. Gives me the opportunity to talk Dutch with each other which is nice. Supervision is nothing short, when you have a question he will try his best to help you.

How did you go to work every day? I always walk to work (20-25min), otherwise you should go by metro

Would you recommend to have a language course prior to this placement? If you are confident in your English it will not be necessary

The costs in euros

Travelling expenses (e.g. return ticket): € +-100,- for retour, if you book far in advance you can get a ticket for 20,-
Accommodation (monthly): € 400 for me. 500 is also not that high here
Local transport (monthly): € +- 20,- (1,50) per metro ticket
General costs of living (monthly): € depends on lifestyle, for me +- 100,= weekly

What did the company pay for/to you? 50.- month. This was basically to accomodate transport costs.

Culture

How did you prepare for the country’s culture?
little knowledge of Italian language. After 2 weeks here started to teach myself with DuoLingo everyday for 10-15min, huge reccommendation! You learn the language quickly when living here.
Also, prepare yourself for a ton of pizza and pasta.

Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: Explore Rome in Spring if possible (summer is hot)
Most museum are free on the first sunday of the month!
Train ticket to Naples is pretty cheap, Naples is a lot of fun! night life is also good.
