Organization’s activities: AfriCamps is all about boutique camping (or glamping) at the most beautiful working farms and estates in South Africa. Here you are welcomed by the landowner and his family. Learn about their farming business and experience everything from hiking to hammocking, from seclusion in nature to romantic escapes, from family outings to merry chaos with friends!

Marketing department

Brief description of your daily activities: During my internship, I was was working at the marketing department. Taks for example were:
– Creating news letters
– Writing e-mails to parntners and clients
– Write a blogpost
– Responding and creating post for social media
– Organising special events
Brief description of your company assignment: I was responsible for creating the whole opening event of AfriCamps newest camp in Wellington.
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: The supervision could be better. AfriCamps is a fast growing, young, company and all employees are very busy in the company.

How did you prepare for the country’s culture?
Back home, I heard a lot of scary stories about Cape Town, the poverty and the townships. First I was a bit afraid of those stories, but South Africa is such an amazing country and all people are really friendly.

Other information

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: The car rental is quite expensive. AfriCamps is mostly hiring more interns so try to share a car with them!
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: Cape Town is full of amazing activities, such as the beautful beaches, Table Mountain and Lions Head, go for a beer at Longstreet and many more!
