Company culture: Top 3 Meeting is the incoming department of FCM Travel Solutions. There are 3 directors and 1 general manager. Within our office, Eliza is the head of Top 3 Meetings. Graziella and Helena are responsible for sales & project executive. We work in an open environment and are able to communicate directly with managers or co-workers when you have any questions during work. The leadership style here is a combination of ‘delegating’ and ‘participating’ . The employees receive a lot of freedom in working and decision making process. But if anything goes wrong, the manager will intervene and pull towards right direction.

In which department(s) are you working?

Incoming department, the position is digital marketing trainee

Brief description of your daily activities:
1. checking the email to see if there is any request from clients or individual task from the company supervisor.
2. spending around 30 minutes to browse daily news to see if there is anything relates to MICE, latest tourism trends or events in Malta.
3. creating contents for social media updates
4. updating internal files, checking flight fares
5. contacting with guides, restaurants and other suppliers
6. learning to create travel proposals in accordance with clients requirements
7. participating in event organizing, site visiting etc.

Brief description of your company assignment:
– SWOT analysis of competitors
– trend analysis
– draw a social media plan
– do market research of China and United Arab Emirates

Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: I got help and support from both my supervisor Eliza and colleagues. They will give me some feedback regarding to the work I have done and let me know where can be improved next time.

Other information

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do:
1. the roads here are relatively winding and steep, be careful when you across the road
2. not biking path, a bit dangerous to ride bicycles here
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: Not much in Birkirkara. But the country is small, you can do day/ half day trip to Mdina, Joy, Valletta, or enjoy sunshine in St Paul’s Bay, Sliema, Mellieha
