Company culture: Colleagues are very friendly to each other and there is almost no hierarchy noticeable. The position as a student is amongst the other employees. Everybody has assignments for you and you work with everyone.

Information about your placement
In which department(s) are you working? PR, pay-per-click, SEO, finance.
Since everybody gives you assignments, you get to know every department in the company. Except for the finance department, because this has not much to do with internet marketing.
Brief description of your daily activities: Posting articles on news websites, doing SEO, keyword research, visibility tests on Google for clients websites, implementing SEO, optimizing Pay Per Click ads, translating pr messages and PPC campaigns
Brief description of your company assignment: Researching if Icelandic tour operators are online ready for a growth in tourism. This means looking at the availability of the site and if this is user friendly. Moreover, looking at the different regions of Iceland and how they present themselves online.
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: The supervision is very good. Everybody can help you and looks over your work, if needed. The only negative thing is that I had to ask a lot for assignments, but they always had one, or more. You have to ask for good feedback if you want this.

How did you arrange your accommodation? I arranged it by myself by emailing every guesthouse in Reykjavik. Also the company searched for me for an apartment, but I arranged accommodation before they found something.

Do you need a work permit? Yes, if you are staying longer than 3 months. You can get this form at the registration office; þjóđskrá Íslands in Reykjavik.
How did you arrange the necessary documents: For Dutch students: begin with the forms for OV-card and scholarships 2-3 months in advance of the start of your placement. This is the time it takes the DUO and Erasmus to deal with the forms.

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: Do: deliver good work and show interest and initiative.
Don’t: They don’t really have rules, but just make sure you do a good job.
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: There are many excursions to do in the beautiful landscape. There are clubs downtown, even as shops, a cinema. You can do horse riding, go to swimming pools or visit cultural heritage in Reykjavik.
