Information about your placement

In which department(s) are you working?

I worked in almost all the departments: Sales, Operations & Reservations. This because of my Company Assignment and the function of the Assistant Branch Manager of Lombok.

Brief description of your daily activities:
– Assist Aini, The Branch Manager to do the daily tasks, such as: sales, reservation & group
department.
– Assist Sales Team to write a commercial email to increase the sales / production.
– Assist Operational Team to handle complains.
– Assist Group Department Travellife.

Brief description of your company assignment: Khiri Travel has various offices in Indonesia. The following departments of each office are important for the research part: Sales, Reservations, and the Operation department. The relevant offices for the research are in Bali and Lombok.

These departments perform the same activities for similar travel agents/tour operators. Remarkably, the offices do not work in the same way and each office follows a different work process. In 2014 Khiri Travel merged with Sunda Trails. After the merge, the company started to grow so fast that they could no longer keep up. All of this causes miscommunication between both offices and disrupts collaboration.

The General Manager has given the trainee, together with Branch Manager Bart Hageman from Bali, the task to investigate how both offices can go through the same work process. As a result, the offices will work in the same way. To do this, all processes regarding the so-called Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Must first be put on paper for the various departments. The exact differences must be investigated, with the ultimate goal that both offices will work in the same way to improve communication and cooperation.
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: In the Indonesian world, it is natural to take a lot of initiative. My internship supervisor tried to help me with everything but was very busy. The colleagues want to teach you everything about the profession. Make sure you use this!
