Organization’s activities: NOTA BENE events is a destination management company based in Rome, who is mainly working within the MICE business. They are experienced in making tailor-made proposals for incentives all over Italy.

Company culture: There is one managing director and and then there are several employees. The team There is no formality at the office, but when you go somewhere for business related things there will be more formality.

Information about your placement

In which department(s) are you working?

Operations Department

Brief description of your daily activities: My daily tasks were making tailor-made proposals, keep daily communication with suppliers and updating the operations department. As I did my internship during COVID, there was not as many work as before but they always came up with something I could do.
Brief description of your company assignment: As there was no sustainability implemented in there proposals to the clients. The subject of my assignment became “sustainability”. I had to make a concept with transport, accommodation and activities.
Comment briefly on your supervision by the organization: The supervision is great! All the colleagues were willing to help me with everything even during this difficult period of COVID. They always came up with a solution and made sure I could finish my internship.

Mode of transport to reach your destination: Airplane. After arriving at the airport in Rome you easily can take a bus, train or taxi to your accommodation

How did you arrange your accommodation? I arranged my accommodation via https://www.spotahome.com together with the other students of BUAS.
How did you go to work every day? By public transport

Do you need a visa? No
Do you need a work permit? No, but some landlords want you to have a ‘codice fiscal’. Ask at the office for help, because they are willing to help you if you need to arrange this.
How did you arrange the necessary documents: Together with the managing director we arranged the codice fiscale in Rome.
How much time did it take to arrange the necessary documents? Half a day

Language course

Did you take a language course before you started your placement? No
Would you recommend to have a language course prior to this placement? No, but if you are very willing to speak Italian with the colleagues, I would recommend it.

Travelling expenses (e.g. return ticket): € Around €90 for a one-way ticket incl. 2 suitcases

What did the company pay for/to you? They payed the public transport. And if you wanted to go to the Vatican or Colosseum you could get 2 tickets each from the company.

Culture

How did you prepare for the country’s culture?
I searched for some highlights I wanted to see during my stay at Rome. Besides this, I would say “go with the flow” and experience by yourself during your internship or ask your colleagues at the office for tips/advice.
Did the culture of the country influence your performance during the placement in any way? Yes, definitely

Other information

Recommendations on what to do and what not to do: Don’t stress too much about your internship, have fun and enjoy the city and its surroundings. The team of NOTA BENE travel & events is very willing to help you out with anything!
Leisure possibilities in the city/surroundings of where the placement took place: There is lots to do in Rome. I recommend to start with the highlights and the famous eating spots of Rome to get and idea of the city. After this try to find spots, tourists would not often go to. You can ask at the office for tips! Beside Rome there are lots of other beautiful places nearby like Naples and Florence which are easily to go to during the weekend.
Rome is not located directly at the sea, but these are also easily accessible for a fun day at the beach!
