• Awamaki

  Awamaki is an organisation which works to economically empower disadvantaged Quechuan women and preserve the traditional craft of weaving in Ollantaytambo, a small town in Peru’s Sacred Valley. Awamaki runs three programs: Women’s Cooperatives, Sustainable tourism and Community Education.

  The women’s cooperatives program organizes women’s groups who work in spinning, weaving, knitting and sewing. Through regular skill-building workshops we enable the women to improve the quality of their products. Awamaki then connects the cooperatives with access to local and international markets through our fair trade store and international sales.

  Our sustainable tourism program directly benefits community members. We work with local artisans and weavers in our cooperatives that would otherwise not have access to tourism market. By promoting cultural and educational tourism to those passing through Ollantaytambo awamaki tours offers travellers unique insight into Quechua life and provides local families with additional income.

  In our community education program, we arrange for international volunteers to teach classes in english and it/computering. We work with staff, volunteers and external trainers to run capacity buildings workshops that cover a variety of topics such as managing houshold finances or working with tourists. Through these classes and workshops, we ai mto give community members the opportunity to build skills and access information that enables the mto increase their incomes and quality of life.

  RTR Global is a non-profit organization working on sustainable tourism. The organization is a network of companies in the tourism sector, who together develop sustainable guidelines and practices and promote responsible tourism. Members of the RTR are all kinds of stakeholders in tourism; hotels, tour operators, governments and specific institutions.

  

• Liz Caskey Culinary and Wine Experiences

  LCCWE creates private, authentic, high-end itineraries focused in food, wine and culture, in various countries of South America (Peru, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay). They cooperate mainly with hotels, wineries and restaurants.
  The company thrives for authentic food and operates as a bridge between the clients and the locals, for example when it comes to delicious street food stands, or to local weavers, in case of Peru.

  

• Responsible Travel Peru

  RESPONS works with around 70 local communities all over Peru to offer travelers and tourism companies the best and most authentic trips. They offer not only community-based tourism but a wide array of travel experiences of all kinds, however always with a focus on sustainability. They can be seen as the bridge between the tourism sector and community-based projects. RESPONS is able to represent communities to tour operators and assist them with marketing their products and assisting tour operators in the logistics and organization.

  The school offers Spanish language courses, volunteer work and internships. During the week activities are organized for the students to get to know the city better and practice their Spanish outside the classes.
